Get rid of Trojan Horse message (same one)
« on: November 19, 2012, 07:21:04 PM »
After I renewed my virus protection, AVAST, I got a Trojan Horse warning (same one) several times no matter what site I was on.
Contacted AVAST after running 3 different compete scans from AVAST, Malwarebites (sp) super spyware.  Last two found nothing, AVAST found one and I did what they told me to do.
After contacting AVAST direct, receieved following message::: Disable the system restore feature.  ( I have XP) did that
Then went to boot-time scan, cliced on Schedule then restarted computer, it ran scan found the same problem, I tried to put it in the virus chest. and now the virus seems to be back again.
Now what.
Thanks to all
Marie   (mariend)

Hi, Marie.  Welcome to LandzDown Forum.

We will do our best to assist you.  However, in order to do so, please follow all instructions provided in the sequence given.  Do not install/re-install any programs or run any fixes or scanners that you have not been instructed to use.  This may cause conflicts with the tools being used in the cleanup process.

If you have questions regarding any of the instructions or problems running any tools, please let us know.

Avast gave you very bad instructions regarding clearing System Restore.  The only way malware in System Restore comes to play is if -- and only if you restore your computer to an infected restore point.  That said, in order to assist you, I need to see some logs.  Please provide a copy of the logs in the Log Posting Instructions topic.

Thank you.

It might take me awhile due to time and medical appointments in the next 2 days.  Will try to do my best

Thanks, GR@PH;<'S!

Marie, although I am occasionally slow to respond, I am here many times throughout each day so take your time and don't feel pressured.

I agree Corrine about the restore points I had tried to let her know before she followed those directions but unfortunately was a little late. Here is the GW thread.
