Thanks to everyone helping figure this out.  I will try again and see what happens.  I will return to post a log hopefully.

The AVG never gave me the options explained in section D of the instructions you sent, nor did it give me an option to Apply All Actions, or Save Report.  I ran a full system scan in safe mode (with Resident Shield deactivated) and below are the results it gave me.  It doesn't look like much, but I hope this helps.

End time 11/14/2006 11:09:37 PM  (total: 1:23:25.8 hrs)

the link i have is for avg ANTI-VIRUS

they have a newer version of AVG, but most is just "eye candy" and most of the old settings are the same
i haven't had time to update it yet.

and AVG has a good support forum

there are several AVG products and pretty sure that corrine was asking for you to use the anti-mailware product !!

it was created by another company and they called it EWIDO

if you are having troubles downloading it go here, this link works and will take you to the right spot !

Hi, Carolynn.  You installed AVG Anti-Virus:  C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgamsvr.exe

Since you already have Norton antivirus software installed, you need to uninstall one of the A/V software programs.  After uninstalling, shutdown/restart, download AVG Anti-Spyware and follow the setup and scanning instructions in Winchester73's post above.

AVG Anti-Spyware: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/20/lng/us/tpl/v5 , click on the button.  :)
