Need help - my hijackthis log
« on: February 13, 2008, 02:15:40 AM »
I'm having a lot of problems.  The "KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR" keeps coming up and its shutting down constantly now.

Thanks in advance

Hi, msmith789.  Welcome to LandzDown Forum.  Yes, you do indeed have some nasty stuff on that computer.  It is most likely caused by a severely outdated, vulnerable version of SunJava.  You also have a vulnerable version of Adobe Acrobat, but as that is licensed software, it may be employment related.  What we will attempt first, is to see if we can get to the source of the problems and get the system cleaned.

Please follow these instructions carefully

Download Combofix from any of the links below, and save it to your desktop.
For information regarding this download, please visit this webpage: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

            Link 1
            Link 2
            Link 3

**Note:  It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

--------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Close any open browsers.

2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts. When finished, it will produce a report for you.  Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" with your next reply.

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall

--------------------------------------------------------------------
You need to update HijackThis and have it in a permanent folder.  Follow these instructions:

Please download HijackThis© from one of the following sites:  At the download prompt, choose "Save"
  • Navigate to the saved file and double-click the installer, HJTsetup.exe
  • By default, HijackThis© will be installed on your computer at C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis, making an entry in the Start menu and also providing a Desktop shortcut
  • When the installation is complete, double-click the HijackThis icon on your desktop
  • Select "Do a system scan and save the Logfile"
  • Copy/Paste the log as a reply  along with the Combofix.txt
