Ad-Aware hangs, already tried everything in the FAQ

Well, I'm one of those people suffering from a hanging Ad-Aware. I've gone though everything in the FAQ posted in the sticky, and it still persists. In fact, it'll still hang even in Safe Mode. System is XP Home SP2 with all critical updates applied. Spybot, TrojanHunter, HJT all come up clean (system WAS very infected before but appears to be clean now after a lot of work on my part).

The whole computer isn't locked, and I can easily close Ad-Aware, shut down, etc.

Ad-Aware locks up after it searches the Typelibs. The path it is on every time it locks is:

Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDLLs

It appears that there was a problem with VxBlock.dll from Version 1.6 of IsoBuster in which it was indicated:

I suggest you start with making sure that you have the latest version of InterVideo.

Not sure where IsoBuster came from... it's not listed in Add/Remove Programs and does not appear to be installed on this person's computer.

They have WinDVD 4 SE (came on the computer from HP) but I checked InterVideo's site and there appears to be no free upgrade patch to that. All "upgrades" are charged for: either the full WinDVD 4, or an upgrade to WinDVD 7.

Seems we've reached a bit of a dead-end...?
