Anti-spyware for Windows 98 standard edition?
« on: September 22, 2005, 05:35:26 PM »
Just checking out Spysweeper, Counterspy, Edwido Security Suite, & Microsoft Anti-spy for future use, and see Spysweeper & Counterspy support Windows 98 Second Edition, or higher.
Microsoft Anti-spy & Edwido don't support any version of Windows 98.
I am using Windows 98 Standard version...no options for me with the above 4 programs?
Any other options for me in similiar other programs?
Or shall I just finally chuck this Windows 98 & upgrade?

Hi, ripley.  With Windows Vista right around the corner, it might be interesting to wait for that to be released.  I've been using XP Home for a while now and like it a lot.  I use W2K at work and prefer XP.  (I jumped from Win95 to XP at home.)

Lavasoft's Ad-Aware SE also works on Win98.  In fact, persistent folks have also gotten it to work on Win95!

Hello ripley, should you decide to step over to XP be sure to increase your memory card to at the least 256MB. That will better support the added features in XP.
