Games on the internet
« on: January 09, 2008, 06:50:53 AM »
Hi
 :sos:

No problems, so far ...

Can you tell me if small free games from the internet is "safe" to play?

My daughter like Luck Charm De Luxe, Cake Mania, Cutterball ... ...
from:
Bigfishgames.com, Gamefool, Gamehouse.com, Shockwave.com ... ...
It was on our old CP, who now "is no longer". (Not because of Game-playing)

Some people say those places are filled with Mailware ?

We have got a new PC, and I wonder if it is wise to install games or not.

Hi PainterMan, and welcome to Landzdown!

I'm no expert, but if I was concerned about a particular game or website (assuming all the necessary virus and anti-spyware protection is installed on my computer), I'd first install McAfee's Site Advisor (a free program), then do a Google search   :google:   on the game or website, and see what Site Advisor has to say about that link.

There are probably many other website that you could find with a Google search which could shed some light on the safety of a particular game, but Site Advisor will give you the fastest results.  HTH.

I can tell you that Gamehouse is a safe place for games!  I have been using it for years, and years and have never had anything crop up as a result.
But as Lena stated, the NECESSARY protection is a MUST!  No matter where you go on the net!  McAfee Site Advisor is a godsend when you have children and a PC!

BTW    :welcome: PainterMan :welcome:  You've come to an excellent place for advice!
And I am certain one of our "experts" will respond.

(As far as I remeber they had the same games as Smiley Arcade + more)

Your Smiley is fine too.

PainterMan,
I would advise you to download a Free to use program called EULAlyzer   as it will analyze the license agreements in seconds allowing you to discover if the program that you are interested in / going to install is going to displays pop-up ads or will transmit your personally information.

Hi GR@PH !

Thanks for the EULAlyzer link - I did bookmark it, and will look on it tomorrow.
Also thanks for the Smiley advise - Yes, there is many Good here !
 :boat3:

Latest :
I downloaded "Luck Charm DeLuxe" from "Gamehouse" (Scanned it before installation) and checked after a short playing with SUPERAntiSpyware, who found no threads. And I have installed McAfee Site Advisor, who said Gamehouse was Green.

I suspect that your daughter is very happy now to have those games to play!
