« on: August 13, 2011, 04:37:09 AM »
I have used Malewarebytes for several years with out a problem. But now when I try to update, I am getting an error message. I uninstalled and restarted in Safe Mode as Raven suggested. I then reinstalled Malwarebytes and tried to update. I got the same error message as before.  See below:

The request name is valid, but no data of the requested type was found

I would appreciate your imput on this, Thank you.

Please have a look at SECTION N of the Mbam forums for this error. Here is the link

This morning before I read your post, someone suggested that I  restart to Safe Mode with Networking, and it updated successfully!
I did then run a scan and it found no infections in my laptop or in the router. But I wonder if this is something that I will need to do all the time.

It would be worth doing a reset of your router.  Every now and then the router and modem get out of sync.

Pull the power cord in the back of it, count to ten, then plug it back in.  Wait until the lights all return to their normal blinking, and then test the MBAM update again.

No.  I think it was a fluke.  However, I agree with Winchester73's recommendation.

You're welcome.

I don't think you will, but if you have further problems, please post the requested logs in the Analysis & Malware Removal Forum.  The initial mention of DNS Changer in the Malwarebytes FAQ topic had me concerned until you let us know all seems fine now.
