New Update

I downloaded the new update of Ad-Aware SE dated th 9th of March. When I tried to run the program it started scanning and than shut down the computer. I unistalled the program, redownloaded and reinstalled and it ran fine. As soon as I updated and tried to run it it would shut down the program again. Have you seen this before?

Hi, Cowboy Rick.  Yes, I have heard of this problem occurring lately when the person has been infected with Winfixer.

First, if you have any real-time monitors on your system, please deactivate while cleaning your system as they can interfer with the results.  See http://www.landzdown.com/index.php?topic=1685.0 for instructions.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
  • Turn your computer back on.
  • Follow the instructions in this thread for updating Sun Java and removing old versions:  http://www.landzdown.com/index.php?topic=3438.0
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt, an Ad-Aware SE logfile and advise how you are doing.

Thanks for your help. I ran the removal tool and ad-aware ran fine. I'll paste in the text from the removal tool below but the ad-aware I went to far and could not access the log file for the scan.
