CANNOT ACTIVATE XP AFTER WINDOWS REPAIR
« on: November 16, 2011, 04:27:01 PM »
Hi, All.

I formated my computer, after a virus infection, and all went fine, until I made a restart and a message appeared that hall.dll file was missing or corrupted, and Windows could not start. I follow some steps to fix the problem, and finally I made a Windows repair installation. Since then, I cannot run the Windows activation wizard. Nothing happens when I click on the keys... I have made all the updates again, but the problem is still there. Can anybody help me?

The problem is solved.

I uninstall Internet Explorer 8 and all its updates and I reinstalled it in safe mode. After reboot the activation wizard ran, and so I activated Windows.

My question now is what is hall.dll and why it cause me all these problems after format? Is it something wrong with the hard disk? Is there a possibility to happen again?

Thank you in advance!
