Currently, my data backup system is to copy my Documents folders to a flash drive. But it takes forever and I don't do it very often. Recently, I had a problem and CHKDSK found and fixed bad clusters in my NTUSERDAT, and my tech guy said it could possilbly be a sign my hard drive might be on it's way out. So I would like to have a better way to back up data before that happens.
I found that there is a free (supposedly simple to use) file back up tool from Microsoft for XP called
SyncToy. From reading about it, it seems like it would be a good way to do more regular backups since it only updates newly edited files.
My question then, is this a good tool for me to use or is there a better one? Also, I read in the system requirements that it needs Microsoft .NET Framework v2.0 .
In my extensions, I have this:
Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant 0.0.0 (disabled)
And in my add/remove programs list I have this:
Microsoft .NET Framework 2 Service pack 2
So it seems like I am set up ok for this except for the disabled extension... I don't know what to do about that.
Any wisdom for me?
