Windows Vista - lock position of desktop icons
« on: December 22, 2012, 05:37:45 PM »
There doesnt seem to be a way to lock the position of the desktop icons in Vista.  I would like to know if there is a way to do it that I've missed.    I found a small utility that should do that.

What I need to know is if this is a good program and if this site is a safe place to download it.

Lowell is very knowledgeable and I expect if there were a problem with his little tool, he would have either changed it or removed it.  I would caution you to first read the comments as it didn't work for some people.  If you decide to go ahead with it, create a fresh restore point prior to running.

Forgot to thank you for this.
I definitely needed to be reminded about creating a restore point.  I seem to forget about that step a lot.

Actually, since the rest of the cleanup on this computer, I haven't noticed the icons migrating around like they did before.  I may not need to pursue this further.
