Some sad news ... a tribute to canuk
« on: June 12, 2007, 04:44:01 PM »

For those of you who knew canuk here and on many other security forums (or his blog site http://canadianperspective.blogspot.com/ ), I wish I didn't have to report this very sad news.  My friend has passed away after many long battles.

RIP, best buddy.  You've been through a lot, and I hope you can now find peace.

Oh we never know where life will take us
I know it's just a ride on the wheel.
And we never know when death will shake us
And we wonder how it will feel.

So goodbye my friend
I know I'll never see you again
But the time together through all the years
Will take away these tears

It's OK now...
Goodbye my friend

Pat, you were a bouquet of good memories, Sprayed with a million tears,
Wishing God could have spared you, if just for a few more Years …

Rest in peace my friend hope we meet someday.

Your friend Paddy..

GOD’S GARDEN

God looked around His garden
And found an empty place.
He then looked down upon earth.
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you
And lifted You to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering.
He knew you were in pain.
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough,
And hills were hard to climb.
So he closed your weary eyelids,
And whispered “Peace be Thine,”
It broke our hearts to loose you
But you didn’t go alone
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home..

I have today planted in my garden an Acer Rubrum "October Glory". I will look at it and remember a sage, a raconteur, a comic, a guide; all faces of one man whom I was proud to call....

..... my friend.

Sleep well.

I felt a great disturbance in the Force . . .

I will never be able to fully explain the closeness Pat and I had, even though we never met in person.  We chatted, emailed and even spoke on the phone.  I will never know if he received the email I sent him a week ago . . .
Quote
I'm hoping you'll see this before . . . to know I'm thinking about you. "ETR" was in chat tonight and . . . He said he misses you too.

Take care and know that I'm thinking about you. {edited to remove personal references}

Then something strange happened and Pat was on my mind.  I picked up the phone to call him.  There was no answer.  I heard from his sister a little while later and learned of his death that day.  I will never hear his voice again and will always miss my dear friend.

Pat sent the poem below in an email two years ago.  Now I know why I saved it.

If Tomorrow Starts Without Me

"If tomorrow starts without me, And I'm not there to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me;
I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today,
While thinking of the many things, We didn't get to say.

I know how much you love me, As much as I love you,
And each time that you think of me, I know you'll miss me too;
But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name, And took me by the hand,
And said my place was ready, In heaven far above,
And that I'd have to leave behind, All those I dearly love.

But as I turned to walk away, A tear fell from my eye,
For all my life, I'd always thought, I didn't want to die.
I had so much to live for, So much left yet to do,
It seemed almost impossible, That I was leaving you.

I thought of all the yesterdays, The good ones and the bad,
I thought of all that we shared, And all the fun we had.
If I could relive yesterday, Just even for a while,
I'd say good-bye and kiss you and maybe see you smile.

But then I fully realized, That this could never be,
For emptiness and memories, would take the place of me.
And when I thought of worldly things, I might miss come tomorrow,
I thought of you, and when I did, My heart was filled with sorrow.

But when I walked through heaven's gates, I felt so much at home.
When God looked down and smiled at me, From His great golden throne,
He said, "This is eternity, And all I've promised you."
Today your life on earth is past, but here life starts anew.

I promise no tomorrow, But today will always last,
And since each day's the same way, There's no longing for the past.
You have been so faithful, So trusting and so true.
Though there were times you did some things, You knew you shouldn't do.

But you have been forgiven, and now at last you're free.
So won't you come and take My hand, and share My life with me?
So when tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart,
For every time you think of me, I'm right here, in your heart."

Love ya, Pat

It's been a while, but I remember canuk well.
I recall a very generous soul.

Just a sec...

I had to wipe my eyes.
