3.0.6 is the basic version. I asked for the build. The latest public release, that I know of, is 3.0.6.1469.

No, there's been others (3.0.6.1458, for example). But as I noted, 1469  is the last to the public (that I am  aware of). Since you said got that list from a private forum, I thought there might have been a newer build yet.

I found the latest copy of the known issues in the public forums here. Sadly, it does not state the applicable build number either.

It does not matter if called a preview, public release, or whatever. It was still a "build" that was supposed to fix the problems in 3.0.4 that 3.0.5 didn't fix - and which still have not been fixed.

I really don't care what they call it, or how they number it. A simple timestamp would work for me so I know that I really have the latest.

Actually, it does matter since a "release preview" is not sent out as a public release to the update channel.  It is essentially a beta that has been tested internally and is available to determine if the previous issues have been fixed.  It is only available by going to the forum and intentionally following the link to download it.  As the the version, you can get version information on the About tab.

It isn't all that different from Windows 10.  I have Version 1607 (compare to 3.0.6) installed on both my laptop and desktop.  However, one has Build 14393.697 and the other has Build 15025.1000 (compare to 1458 and 1469).

My point is, it does not matter what they call the release when it comes to listing known issues with that specific release.

That does not matter either in "this" scenario because those download links in the forums were posted in the public forum, not a private forum. They were available to all, not just those who signed up for Beta testing, or whatever.

For example, as for Windows 10, we know there have been issues with the Windows Insider Preview builds that were not in the public builds. In that case, you are right, it is similar to W10. But in this Malwarebytes issue, it is not the same because the release preview was available to everyone - in fact, forum staff was even recommending it.

The difference is, you know the build versions. In that list of known issues, it does not specify the build. It only says 3.0.6. That would be the same as your laptop and desktop saying only Windows 10.

If the developer is providing a list of known issues for the latest publicly available release, the developer should specify which build it applies to. That's all I am saying.

As we’ve posted about recently we have an update coming out soon that should addresses a number of issues reported here.
We typically don’t have a way for folks to test these silent program updates, but we’ve created a special “BETA” build that allows us to do so this time around.
Basically this is an updated 3.0.6 installer that is already "pre-updated" with the upcoming component package update.

When you install you will see the following under Version Information on the About screen:
• Malwarebytes version: 3.0.6.1469
• Component package version: 1.0.69

I agree - at least not until V3.0.6.1469 and Component package 1.0.50. That version appears finished (the original 3.x clearly was not). I have not had any problems with it in terms of protection being turned off. I am sticking with it until the next public release.
