WoW! Thanks.

Must be my birthday too, well, only days away actually. Thanks for sharing this info. I have favored OPERA for a few years now and never had one issue with it compared with, well, you know...............slow poke.

Herumutsu

Interesting. Thanks for the info. :)

Great Alert-posting Corrine! :)

I've used Opera for years and can certify that it's really a great browser... 8)
In my own opinion it's the best, and of course I mean no disrespect of the great "Fox"...

I fully agree - Not that anyone cares, or even listens to me, but I do agree!

Jason

Well... I do care sweetie, and as you can see I'm absolutely listening to you.

You've got my full attention! :o

Die Hard

I downloaded Opera and will probably keep it, but I´m not sure I will use it much.
There are some issues with it, the same as with Mozilla which I tried a couple of years ago, that I cant cope with;
When posting, and I use the tags for bold, quote and so on, I would like them to end up where I put the cursor. Not after the last letter typed, regardless where the cursor is. That is important, or posting will be awkward.
Besides, I really cant do without Google searchbar the way its designed in IE.
So I´m afraid Opera will end up among the programs I never use.

Yeah, I know that problem - can be irritating at times, but since I usually type the tags manually, it doesn't make as much of a difference to me.

Jason

For those who wants to customize their Opera browser a great number of excellent advices are given in the Wiki - Opera. :D
Functionality in Google Toolbar or any other searchbar is for instance possible to adjust to personal preferences by customizing the Opera ini-file described in the Wiki - Opera.

Jason - have I mentioned I love you???? :P

Die Hard - It is soooooooo good, work with it, you will love it, and they have a super support forum! I have not used IE in over a year! Feel so much secure, mmmmmmm Love it!

Die Hard

Don´t know what to do, this always comes up initially when I open Opera:
QuoteForbidden

You don't have permission to access / on this server.
Apache Server at http.www.dn.se Port 80
That´s my startpage.

Besides, I cant find where to set Opera to non default browser. Or is that a setting that has to be made in IE ?

Corrine

When I launched Opera, I was prompted as to whether I wanted to make it my default browser.  I declined.  (It is nice an better than IE, IMO, but there are extensions I cannot live without when "working the forums" -- BBCode formating being the primary one, selecting text and right-click search Google for another.

To reset IE as your default:

To reset Internet Explorer settings

If you installed another Web browser after installing Internet Explorer and Internet Tools, some of your Internet Explorer settings may have changed. You can reset your Internet Explorer settings to their original defaults, including your home page and search pages, and choice of default browser, without changing your other browser's settings.

On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
Click the Programs tab.
Click the Reset Web Settings button.

Jason may be able to help with the other problem as I cannot access it either.  If not, here's the Opera Forums:  http://my.opera.com/forums/

Die Hard,
You're supposed to configure your preferred standardbrowser in MSIE the way Corrine instructed in the previous posting.

I made http://www.dn.se/ (a large and wellknown newspaper in Sweden) my temporary startpage in Opera and visiting the website didn't create any problems what so ever for me. I've defined Opera as Opera under network in advanced options and not as MSIE.

Could the communication with the website perhaps have been temporarily down when you and Corrine tried it out earlier?
I suppose you haven't blocked IP 62.119.189.4 by mistake in your firewall?
Did you install the Opera version that includes Java, which I believe is essential on this webpage?
The technical information on the webpage tells that they use RedSheriff to track the visitors and I suppose you haven't denied anything particular on that end?
If'you're a member on their page you can for instance use the Wand-function in Opera for your login procedure.
Could it perhaps be a too long URL with inadequate login-info that's causing your problem?

All my above guessings sounds a bit silly to give to anyone with your computerskills, but no other ideas gets "the bells in my head" ringing for the moment.
If something else will come up in my bag of ideas I'll be back!

Regards
Jason ;)

I think another very important if not interesting feature of OPERA is that it has built-in IRC client. Very handy addition IMO.
