{ "Small Talk" About FireFox - Not Spam }
« on: December 07, 2007, 01:35:58 PM »
Hallo Again -

I really enjoyed the English and Danish links and want to thank you all again.

Not because I want to Spam You ...

I forgot to mention that I liked your Avatar´s

stealhzone  (Fire?) Fox
and the others

Since I am a Firefox-Fan I just want to tell you that Denmark not are the 2th Bad FF country but the 5th, since last time I looked.
http://www.xitimonitor.com/en-us/browsers-barometer/firefox-september-2007/index-1-2-3-110.html

Wonder why there is so much difference :  Finland in TOP - UK in BOTTOM

Who did XiTi ask ? ... Not my wife, our two daughters or me ;-), who would use it even though DK only had  ½% FF Users ...

And Oceania Have more FF users then Europe....

I was looking on a weblog, and found this "Most Serious Argument" For Firefox  ;-)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9BON5nd8Fg
 - Here I also found that from ROCKETBOOM + more.

Amanda Congdon
http://www.rocketboom.com/vlog/rb_05_dec_02

Think it is a nice FF-Support Video, though I am "a bit skeptical" that so many FF users pass by on 3 minutes in The Big Apple in a PC-Word dominated of IE ;-)
I would like to know more ... Like where in New York was it filmed? And who play the harp music?
(Did write to ROCKETBOOM - But got no answer)

In Denmark was that "Trumpet Voluntary" used by BBC, who broadcast to German Occupied Denmark 1940-1945 with news and hope.
:sos:  (Britain did help - Also by sending "stuff" from the Air to the Resistance Movement) !

Hi, Jorn_DK.  We understand that you are starting a discussion topic about Firefox and not spam.  What I like best about Firefox is the add-ons.  I would be lost without BBCodeXtra.

Hi Jorn_dk
Firefox is a good browser. In the beginning the Firefox Browser was maybe more safe and faster than IE, but as the times goes and more people knowing Firefox, it will not be more safe or faster than other browsers. And one more thing is that if you fill Firefox up with to many add-ons and themes it slow the browser. Personally I use IE and Firefox...depends which sites I go to and such. Not all sites are build for Firefox and not all services at the sites works in Firefox yet.

---

I am as a Dane thankful too, but I think it best to keep our politics and old history out of forum. Our bad memories and wut happened in the past and who did what maybe doesn't fit into this room

... Oobs I did not think of that at all!
And was not trying to hurt anyones feelings, as I am not against any Nationalities. It was only to explain abut the music. Nothing else. Sorry if I offended anyone here - That is not why I joined...
By the way - I did not hear that myself on the Radio. But I am interested if anyone know about the harp music and the location in New York. - Yes, this have nothing to do with PC security ;-)
And it was not my plan to say my openion on Political leaders and other Wars in this Forum. Believe me.

Intet andet.
og lokaliteten i New York.

And who play the harp music?
I think you will get a answer in a hurry if you contact BBC Radio London or Radio Denmark because they know the title of that tune. Hint: All I can tell you is that the  original message and tune was broadcasted from BBC London on May the 4.th 1945. 9.30 AM (20:30). Johannes G. Sørensen was the speaker who was reading the  message via BBC London.  It is easier to search for the original composer and then search for a newer recording  for harp. Also if you go to the public music library in Copenhagen they can help you there. They can probably give you a answer faster than I am able to open a beer. I think it is a bit easier that way

kind regards

Although I know the codes needed for formatting text, I use the "quick reply" box where ever it is available and find that it is often faster and easier with BBCodeXtra

There are a *few* pieces during the baroque period referred to as "Trumpet Voluntary".  If you are seeking the tune in the vid, you'd best be searching for The Prince of Denmark's March by J. Clarke.  Most any baroque or "wedding" compilation CD will include it.

I am unfamiliar w/ Rocketboom website, but the harpist name is listed on the link you provided: Somna M. Bulist
She is a New York musician, classically trained, known for "gothic harp" music...so if that is in fact her on the video, I can see where you'd find it a fresh interpretation (without brass & organ). But unlikely you will easily find other "classic" songs recorded by her.

Hej Jorn_DK!  Did I say that correct?  I usually say Hey Jorn_DK!

Stealthzone has taught me much about how to "search" online...and some Danish words :mitch:

The 2nd video you posted was produced in 2005...prior to IE having tabbed browsing & RSS capability, etc, as far as I recall.  Not real current?  The surroundings in the video look to be Washington Square Park, NY...that would place the interviewer near collegiate pedestrian traffic (close proximity to New York University).

It is nice to see you & your family are learning computer programs together.

I use a Firefox, and have experienced the advantage of having a second, or "backup" browser when I am using a Windows OS.
Since Internet Explorer is "integrated" into the operating system, when there are "problems" that can happen with IE, having a backup browser is a godsend, not only for troubleshooting, but even being able to connect to the internet sometimes to search for solutions.

As far as extensions/add-ons, the most valuable and FIRST for me was NoScript, for browsing SAFER with Firefox.  It had a learning curve as it asks for you to decide what to allow & what to deny...but the developer takes the time to write FAQ's (which he updates frequently) as well as answering questions for new users at Mozilla forums.  That extension alone catapulted me to understanding more of how the internet "works" in terms of security, as well as understanding how my first browser, Internet Explorer works, than I can explain.

Jorn_DK, you didn't mentioned it in your list of add-ons...here's some info > http://noscript.net/

... Well I know well the "original", and we have it on several versions on classical "Top-Ten" CD´s or LP´s.
(And in DK we also call it Prins Jørgens March). But thanks for telling.
Sorry that I expressed myself unclear.

... Thanks again - That was excatly what I was asking about ! - Now we have the keyword.
Somna M. Bulist play fine - And we like to listen to other things by her..

Well, firefox isn't really my cup of tea. To unstable if you ask me. Either on a XP or Vista it is running fast and not freezes up your computer.

I use Opera. But I still have Firefox installed. I usually play games trough firefox, because it has a nice function to clean your history when you are closing it. But my standard browser it wouldn't be.  :)

Actually, firefox is not more secure - the security holes in firefox is not getting exploited - that is the deal.
