for a decade before we invaded iraq the second time, the un inspectors were shunned in iraq. they were not allowed to search any royal palace, & everything was a royal palace. the un inspector, a former us marine, found tons of evidence about biological, chemical and nuclear weapons. he resigned.
unfortunately, when we invaded, we had warned iraq 6 months that we were comming. iraq had plenty of opportunity to move its weapons of mass destruction to syria, as it had moved its best jets to syria a decade earlier, also having plenty of notice we were comming.
(when we got there the first time, a decade ago, the navy seals who were sneaking in to prep the area for the landing were warned, don't shoot the journalists on the beach who are covering the suprise invasion.)
so, likewise, when we got there this last time, there were no weapons of mass destruction. no unified army. just surrender and urban street fighting. now we are up to our waists in a quagmire.
should we whack terrorists? sure. should we let them in our country? of course not. should we deport them? of course.
remember 9-11? sure. it was horrible. still is.
the terroists won. we lost. we've lost tons and tons of freedoms due to the patriot act. last year, a local lawyer (in new orleans) lead a protest march & enumerated lost freedoms. since then, courts are beginning to rule against some of the summary civil liberties that were taken from us, granting them back. this will play out in the courts for years to follow.
you have a voice, it is called vote. you decide which freedoms you've lost. read. research. educate yourself, both about those issues and on which side your "favorite" politician votes (not what he says.) (how do you tell when a politician is lying?? he has his mouth open.) see how they vote. if you don't like it, you vote. vote them out.
i've left my opinion out of most of this. you need to form one and vote accordingly. the more you research, the more you will educate yourself. talk to friends, co-workers. you can make a difference for the good of our nation.
