I am just kidding BTW.  :tease:

Something we'd like to reveal to everyone is we have own our IRC server. In short, it's simply a server for you to meet, and chat with us (the team).

Simply click here: http://www.landzdown.com/irc/

It will launch a web Java applet. This is only a test applet, so beware, call it beta if you wish  :tease:

When you click the link, it will launch a Java applet, which will connect to our IRC server (irc.landzdown.com) and automatically join the main channel.

When you use the web applet, you are automatically given a username of LzdGuest### (### = random numbers). If you want to change this, simply put this command into the message box and hit Enter: /nick NEWNICKNAME

(Obviously substituting NEWNICKNAME with the username you want. Since this is just a simple, test applet at the moment, the feature of choosing a username before connecting has yet to be added.)

So please, join us!
Beta. Software undergoes beta testing shortly before it's released. Beta is Latin for 'still doesn't work.'

Not sure the cause.  Are you running the latest Java Runtime Environment (http://www.java.com)?  Also, what browser, just for my curiosity.

Thx,

Aaron

Should you wish to use an IRC client, I have had good luck with Trillian.  My personal reason for preferring Trillian over an IRC dedicated client such as mIRC or HydraIRC is that I can also use it for MSN, AIM and Y!

You may find the attached Microsoft Word document helpful in setting up Trillian.

Temmu,

I have had a play with trillian and it does look as if IRC is not included but it seems that they do not add IRC as standard it is infact an add on you need to open the trillian then click "trillian prefrences"  scrol down to plug-in's and tick the box for IRC.

GR@PH;<'S   :Hammys pint:
press Enter then have a Brandy then if the problem is still there have another Brandy
Q: does it work
A: It does seem to for a few hours at least.

Boy Temmu...something sure doesn't seem to want to allow you in the LzD Chat Room  :tease: :exorcize:

I can get in using the Java applet w/ same as you: IE6 & FF2 & Java JRE 1.6

According to Java article at MozillaZine:
Quote
BrowserSpy - Java Information at gemal.dk will tell you whether or not Java is installed and the JRE version, even if Java is currently disabled in the browser (you can disregard any of the "Could not read" notations listed under the "Java using the applet tag:" heading).
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Java    <<<Link to BrowserSpy-Java Info at the bottom of page :Testing Java

3-4 ppl posted same errors as you with differing opinions as to why.  See if any fit?
http://www.ld4all.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8329&postdays=0&postorder=asc&&start=45

As far as Trillian, if you are using the latest version 3.1.7.0, yup, ditto what GR@PH;<'S says...IRC should be there.

Twas a bit misleading in the install cuz it offers you a variety a "options/plugins" to choose.  I de-selected the Ask Toolbar and the Weather thingy.  The plugins offered are these:

You don't see IRC listed and, of course, I saw ICQ and thought it must be a typo  :hysterical:

<Well, no wonder Corrine's screenshots don't match mine as I am trying to fill in the info for IRC in the ICQ boxes >

Where GR@PH;<'S is pointing is how I got it configured to "Add a new connection"...once you tick that IRC box in the Plugin page, it then shows up when you choose Add a new connection.

Well Temmu  :?

Did it attempt to re-connect per your settings?

You can manually push "re-connect"?  Nada?

We are comparing Corrine's screenshots/instructions with some additional info from Aaron...hopefully some answers soon.

That'll happen.  It happens to all of us.  Usually I'm told "Software caused connection abort" which means absolutely nothing to me.
