SpyDie sent me a good suggestion ... let's see if the Flash issues are Internet Explorer specific.  Do you have another web browser installed?  If so, try You Tube, etc, and see if there is any difference.  If you don't have another browser, you could try FireFox:  http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/system-requirements.html ... it says it works on 2k.

Hi Winchester

You guys are so helpful!

I rarely use Internet Explorer becasue it is IE6.  My OS is not compatible with the new version IE8.  I use the current version of Mozilla Firefox 3.5

I just went on IE6 browser to see if I could view YouTube or WildEarth but I was told I needed to download the latest version of Flash for IE.  I tried to do that but I got a security warning box that said something like my security settings won't allow a script in ActiveX because it wasn't safe.  Oh boy - I am pretty sure that is what it said - I can't believe I can't retain the message as I just did it a few minutes ago. LOL

Where do I go to get a safe download of IE7 - I am sure it is probably better than IE6

Thank you again for all your help.

Anne

IE7 is only for XP and above, so you won't be able to run it on your 2k box.  I have an intermittent problem with one of my Vista boxes forgetting that it has Flash installed.  There's an uninstaller on the Adobe website that we can find if we need to try a complete/fresh install.  There's also a way to right click run as Administrator the file that you already have on the computer, that sometimes fixes the issue.

To make sure we're not confused, do you have the same issues with video content with Firefox?  Or is the problem only in IE6?

OK, a couple of things ...

Go here, and tell us exactly what Flash version info is displayed:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html

Go here, and tell us if the Flash Player window displays correctly:  http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/

Then try this one:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/

Go to this site, and see if it works:  http://www.flashearth.com/

If no joy on these, let's use the Flash uninstaller:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

Reboot your computer, then download Flash again (untick the Google toolbar option if you don't want it) ... I'll have to hunt for the direct link to the Firefox version.

Cherryfizz,

I agree with my esteemed colleague winchester73, the first step that we should try is a complete uninstall of Flash followed by a re-install of the appropriate version.

Firstly, please go to the following link, carefully read the instructions (print them out if necessary) and download the uninstaller for Windows:

http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

If there is anything that you do not understand in the instructions on that page please seek advice here before proceeding. Once you are happy please follow the Adobe instructions to remove the application. When the process is complete reboot the machine, even if you are not prompted to do so.

Now we will get the correct version for Firefox. Go to the following link

http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/

In step 1 use the drop down box to select the "Windows Vista/XP/2003/2000" version and click "Continue"

In step 2 select the second option "Flash Player 10 for Windows". You will see that under the entry "System Requirements" the browser entry changes to  "Firefox/Safari/Opera"

Click on "Agree and install now". When all is complete try viewing a Youtube video and let us know what happens.

Thanks guys!

Winchester, I went to the first site you mentioned

I have Player Version WIN10,0,22,87
Debug Player  NO
Operating System - Windows 2000
Video Capable - Yes
Audio Capable - Yes
Local File 1/0 Enabled - Yes

The site also stated: The SWF movie below displays the specific version of Adobe Flash currently installed and active for your browers.  (I didn't see a movie or animation)

2nd site

Said I needed to download a Plug In which I tried to do. It then said "no suitable plug in found" Manually Install.  I tried to do that - The site then asked what Installer Type Select Slim or Full (I didn't know which one to pick)

3rd site

Saw/heard movie-animation  After movie stated Flash On

4th Site - Maps
I saw my house, I think I even saw the black spot of my dog on the steps of my porch.

I thought I would wait to see what you advise after you see these results.  Also should I be on the User Administrator Log in or my own User Log In-the one I use the most.

I will check in again later today.  You both are very helpful!

Anne

Stepping back a bit, it may be helpful to see what is actually installed on the computer.  Please navigate to C:\RSIT and open info.txt.  Please copy/paste that log as a reply.

It appears to work sometimes, and not others ... I'd suggest uninstalling, rebooting, and reinstalling with the link ETR provided.  Reboot once more, and give it a try at the same sites.

See if this helps explain the "rights":  http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/productinfo/instructions/

Hello Corrine

I just checked again and that is where the file left off.  There wasn't anything after.  Just to make sure I went to the right place. I looked under File-Open File-Local Disk C-Rsit-info

I will check in again later, I stayed up most of the night and it is almost dawn. I guess I should get a few hours of sleep.
