Welcome irishstyle,

Before we go any further would you supply us with a bit more info. In your reply to this please tell us some basic details about your computer, such as the Operating System that you are using (95/98/ME/2000/XP/Vista etc), amount of memory, any firewalls installed, AV or anti malware applications; such information helps us to help you.

Is the machine running for a period of time then locking up which forces you to restart or is it rebooting itself? How long is it staying up for before it goes wrong? are you seeing a countdown timer that tells you that it will restart in 60 seconds (and which decreases)? Please describe the symptoms as fully as you can.

Are you still able to download from the web?

Hi, irishstyle.  Welcome to LandzDown.

It seems to me that a bit of a translation is needed.  You wrote "cis major".  Is that a Computer Information Systems major?  Did he tell you that there is a rootkit?

You went to cc.  Do you mean Castle Cops?  If they said the same thing as your cis major friend, what guidance did they give you and what have you done so far?  Also, if it is Castle Cops you started receiving help at, why aren't you continuing there?  Where ever it is you are already receiving help, please provide a link to the information.

Thanks.
