REG EDIT files deleated! How do I get them back?

My prob was I was trying to install the anti virus Kapersky program and I somehow deleated a lot of key files in the reg edit section, now they can´t find the licence key, so I can´t install the program!? I can´t c: format my harddrive cause my installation cd is too old. Now I am surfing (only here) without a saftey net:(

What to do?

I suppose you didn´t back up the registry before you deleted the items ?
That´s bad, once deleted they can´t be restored.
However, I find it strange that you can´t add your license key, unless you lost it entirely ( ie, lost the piece of paper where you write it down)
If there are regkeys related to Kapersky lost, I think an uninstall and then a reinstall would help. Did you try this ?
I´m not familliar with Kaperky´s AV, but also running a new installation without uninstall could put back the lost items. If the program permits you to, that is.
You might have a warning saying "a version of the program is already found, you have to uninstall it before you can continue"

yes I have tried it over and over again. Before I deleated the reg edit files (licence keys?) Kapersky never asked me about them, but then I had some other problem. Switching over to swedish cause noone else here is replying. B.t.w is unsafe to be here without a anti virus protection?

Saken är den att jag inte förstår riktigt hur reg. edit fungerar? ( i service pack 2 filer?) Jag antar att jag har deleatat saker (key files) som behövs för att installera Kapersky eller Norton mm? Det slog mig nu,´om reg. edit finns i service pack 2 filerna/mappen, kan jag inte bara hämta en ny från windows update och börja om?

Hur farligt är det att surfa på sånna här "normala" sidor utan skydd?

Jag testade återställa reg.edit via hjälp support med det hjäpte inte! Så nu är det väl bara att formatera om? Eftersom registereditorn följer med widows vid en installation så hjälper det knappast att bara hämta just den och installera den som nån sorts uppdatering?

Vad synd att jag tabbade mig så brutalt i reg.edit, annars hade allt nog varit bra!

Och du har inte en aning om var,eller vilka nycklar och värden du tog bort ? Man kan ju göra nya nycklar, men då måste man ju veta exakt var dom gamla fanns och vilka värden dom hade.
Detta bekräftar bara regeln som jag tjatar om jämt i mina poster : "Backa ALLTID upp registret innan du ändrar någonting"

Vad jag minns så hette mappen MuiCache (tror jag) Nu efter jag har återställt reg edit via F8 så hittar jag inte ens reg edit bland service pack filerna? Jag måste nog formatera om eller vad tror du?

Jag tror att du menar "MruCache" . "MRU" står för "Most Recently Used" .
Jag vet inte riktigt vad det skulle kunna ha för inverkan på att du inte ska kunna ominstallera programmet ?
Registret är också för mig ganska okänt, även om jag fuskar lite där ibland  :P

Är det helt kört för dig, och du har möjlighet att backa upp dina filer, kanske en ominstallation är snabbast och enklast.
Men är det *bara* Kapersky som spökar,eller visar systemet på instabilitet på andra sätt ?
