virus-help!
« on: September 10, 2008, 05:26:35 PM »
hiya everyone: can someone pleaseeee help me, last night I got home from work and  sat at my computer and right away noticed that a small window was showing in the lower right hand side saying" your computer is infected! windows has detected spyware infection. So I tried to run my anti-virus "avg" but no way,,,it wont even open, update nothing, I am assuming this nasty virus is behind that. So I have ad-aware se, I ran that and it found a virus called"win32 trojan crypt", it quarintined it but then as soon as I reboot the pc  it comes back! I have tried everything, I even tried to download  "zonealarm pro" to try and pick it up, it downloaded but once again the virus wont allow me to get into this program. I am worried  about this virus, believe it or not, over the years I have been very lucky in the way that I havent got viruses till now, I talked to my step son and he said he opened up am email that he thought was from "123greetings.com" he thought someone sent him a greeting as there is such a site but I believe it is "123 FREEgreetings.com" anyway, he said that when he opened that email then the computer shutdown for a brief moment  and then rebooted it self and there ya go! damage done. he said that before he opened the email it said beside the sender" 123greetings.com/vice-commodore@cubchina.com". Does any of this sound familair to any of you? I really need help with this and being laid off my job at the end of this week I really dont have the money to buy a software program to get rid of it but if I have to I will so if you could direct me as to what to do and if i need to buy a program,,whats kind would do the trick? thats all, hope to hear from you. oh ya,,,even if i boot in safe mode, i still cannot get into an antivirus program. thanks,,,coorschick

Hi and welcome to the forum: :hallo:

Here is the place to start, by reading and following the directions here:

http://www.landzdown.com/index.php?topic=423.0

Once you post a HJT log we can get started on your fix.

Hi, coorschick.  Welcome to LandzDown Forum.

In addition to BG's instructions, please don't download any additional programs.  Let's see where things stand first and then the Team will advise you.

ornate :

My post gave a link to a tutorial on how and where to get directions for a HJT log.

As this thread is 8 days old, coorschick is probably long gone.
