Win32:Trojan-gen {other}

Ok... heres my situation:
While on Internet Explorer every couple of minutes a random web page would popup, Since I had limewire and utorrent installed a immediately uninstalled them and downloaded and installed Avast. I scheduled a full time boot scan and several trojans came up. At the end of the scan two more trojans were identified, now I have 4 trojans in the Avast Virus Chest. All but one are the Win32:Trojan-gen {other} located in the system 32 folder.The other also in system 32 is Win32: Rootkit-gen [rtk] I have looked at numerous forums on removing these and almost all are for each personal poster, I need a solution to my situation. Please review any other parts of my hijack this log and give me any techniques to removing harmful components to my computer.

Hi, demataj.  Welcome to LandzDown Forum.  You are correct, the instructions provided are personalized based on what is shown in the log and the information provided by the individual.

Uninstalling limewire and utorrent was a very wise decision, demataj.  You have also installed an excellent "free for personal use" antivirus software.  The next step, however is to install a software firewall.  The following firewall programs are free for personal use.

Agnitum Outpost Firewall
Kerio Personal Firewall
Online Armor Free

Of interest is the results of the latest Matousec Firewall Challenge which were posted yesterday.  Online Armor and Agnitum's Outpost firewall are among the best available.

After installing a firewall, please do the following:

Please download JavaRa and unzip it to your desktop.

  • Double-click on JavaRa.exe to start the program.
  • Click on Remove Older Versions to remove older versions of Java.
  • A logfile will pop up. Please save it to a convenient location.

Then download and install Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 10.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune from http://www.atribune.org/index.php?option=c...5&Itemid=25 . Save it to your Desktop.

Run ATF Cleaner
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
  • Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
  • Shutdown/restart the computer.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be found here: C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt
  • Please post contents of that file in your next reply and a fresh HijackThis log.

Double-click the HijackThis icon on your desktop (or launch from the TrendMicro Folder)
  • Select "Do a system scan and save the Logfile"
  • When the scan is completed, Notepad will launch with the log. Please UNcheck Word Wrap in Notepad (Click Format > UNcheck Word Wrap)

Include the MBAM and HijackThis logs in your reply.
