Reoccuring alerts with Daemon Tools Lite

(1/2) > >>

Max_ita:
I'm trying to block Daemon Tools Lite from Startup Program list, but this WinPatrol alert (in attachment) continues to ask me repeatedly if I want to keep this process.
My answer is always no, but Winpatrol doesn't stop to alert me with this windows (unless I accept to keep this process).
I think that WinPatrol should improve Startup Program detection.

I have Windows 7 64 bit.

To reproduce it, I started Daemon Tools Lite immediately after installation. In a few seconds, I receive this reoccuring alert.

Thank you.

Hi, Max_ita.

There are programs that are persistent in returning after they have been removed from the Startup Programs list.  Examples include QuickTime, RealPlayer, and MSN Messenger which think they're so important they put themselves in the Start up Programs list every time they run.

It sounds as though DAEMON Tools Lite is another example  Use WinPatrol to disable the start up at Windows launch function. Scotty will remove the program(s) from start up when they reappear.

* Right-click Scotty in the system tray to launch WinPatrol, selecting "Options", accepting any UAC prompt.
* Click the Start up Programs tab in WinPatrol.
* Right-click on the software to be disabled from start up and select Disable.
To re-enable a disabled program, follow the same steps in reverse. Click to select the program and select enable.

Max_ita:
I've tried your workaround a couple of times.

I disable DTLite process in Start up Program as suggested by you, but after that I try to open again Daemon Tools... it appears magically as enabled in msconfig, while in Winpatrol appears as disabled (twice).

Max_ita:
Still reproducible with WinPatrol 25.0.2012.5.

You can prevent unwanted programs from auto-start, but this behavior represents an exception to the rule.

Max_ita:
I found a permanent fix for Daemon Tools Lite that didn't want to stay away from my startup list.

Open Daemon Tools Lite > Preferences > General tab > Disable Automount feature.

Thank you and sorry.
