Hi, Thedrumguru.  Why is it you only come visit us at LzD when you have a problem?  :)  This time you have quite a nasty problem.  Let's see what we can do to get your machine cleaned and then I think we'll have to commit you to a detox center to slow down that "click here" finger.

Before we start fixing anything you should print out these instructions or copy them to a NotePad file so they will be accessible. Some steps will require you to disconnect from the Internet or use Safe Mode and you will not have access to this page.

Please follow these instructions carefully.

Please download SDFix by AndyManchesta and save it to your desktop.
When using this tool, you must use the Administrator's account or an account with "Administrative rights"
  • Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
  • (this is the drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix).
  • DO NOT use it just yet.
Reboot your computer in "Safe Mode" using the F8 method. To do this, restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup (but before the Windows icon appears) press the F8 key repeatedly. A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".

Open the SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services or Registry Entries found then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts, the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt.
  • Copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt in your next replyalong with a new HijackThis log.
-- If this error message is displayed when running SDFix: "The command prompt has been disabled by your administrator. Press any key to continue..."
Please go to Start Menu > Run > and copy/paste the following line:
%systemdrive%\SDFix\apps\swreg IMPORT %systemdrive%\SDFix\apps\Enable_Command_Prompt.reg
Press Ok and then run SDFix again.

-- If the Command Prompt window flashes on then off again on XP or Win 2000, please go to Start Menu > Run > and copy/paste the following line:
%systemdrive%\SDFix\apps\FixPath.exe /Q
Reboot and then run SDFix again.

-- If SDFix still does not run, check the %comspec% variable. Right-click My Computer > click Properties > Advanced > Environment Variables and check that the ComSpec variable points to cmd.exe.
%SystemRoot%\system32\cmd.exe

Take a walk through the "Security Garden" -- Where Everything is Coming up Roses!

May the wind sing to you and the sun rise in your heart.

Hi, Thedrumguru.

Please go back and read my instructions and follow the link that I provided.  I did not link to or provide instructions for SmitfraudFix.

You must follow the instructions as posted above.

I am willing to bet that you did not notice that in Corrine's original post that when she asked you to download SDFix that the text: SDFix was actually a clickable download link.  Below is the link for the tool also:

Yes, but from what I read about braviax.exe, once run it drops a whole load of other files.  In addition SDFix should solve this as well

i would also like to add that none of my programs will launch from the desktop or the all programs from the start menu...So none of my programs are opening. I click on them and it says application not found.

I am kind of concerned about all the running process missing.  There were 40+ in the first HJT log, ony 12 in the second log.

also these are "New"

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ModemOnHold] C:\Program Files\NetWaiting\netWaiting.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MySpaceIM] C:\Program Files\MySpace\IM\MySpaceIM.exe

Thedrumguru,

You last reply was on May 23, 2008.  If you want help you need to reply in a more timely manner or let us know if you are not going to be around for a time.  To be honest, this log looks like it might have come from a different computer, the logs are so different.

-----------------------

Open HijackThis and click on 'Do a System Scan Only'. Check the following entry (If it still exists)

O2 - BHO: QXK Olive - {355D7733-76E2-4146-9BB2-C761006CE06B} - C:\WINDOWS\boqnrwdmwet.dll (file missing)

Please remember to close all other windows, including browsers then click Fix checked.

-----------------------

Download CCleaner from :-

http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/  (click the download tab)

doubleclick the ccsetup.exe file and install the program...

At the Cclean setup screen &Install opitions Uncheck the Add Ccleaner Yahoo ! Tool bar unless you want it

After installing, go to Start > programs > CCleaner > Options > Advanced > UNCHECK "Only delete files in Windows Temp folder older than 48 hours"

Make sure the "windows" tab is selected

Under "internet explorer" tick...

Temporary internet files
Cookies* > see Note below
History
Recently typed URL's
(leave this unticked if you DON'T want to clear the drop down list in the address window of IE)
Delete index.dat files
Last download location
Autocomplete form history

under "Windows explorer" these are optional, but you can safely tick them all if you wish, they are only "most recently used lists"

Other explorer MRU's
(leave this unticked if you DON'T want to clear lists such as the start\run list)

under "System"

Tick ALL these ...

under "Advanced"

no need to tick any of these (but you can if you want, and realise what they do)

Applications tab...

These will mostly clean out old log files for these applications...

Clean:- (if you use them)

Firefox/Mozilla (optional - leave the cookies - see note)
Opera
Sun Java
ZoneAlarm

...
Personally I clean everything in the applications tab... but you tick what you want...
