I have a virus on my HP Pavilion Entertainment PC laptop that will not allow me to do anything

I can't open any programs or type anything. I tried F8 and nothing happened at all. I have the 2013 Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security installed. When I try to connect to the internet, open an app or the antiviral program, the computer seems like it's processing but then it just stops and nothing opens. No error box , no messages, nothing pops up. I  can only get the computer to turn on and off. I am not computer savvy but I am desperate.  I'm a med student and I really need my computer. Again, I CANNOT connect to the internet, type or open applications.  Please help me!  Thank you for your help and time.

Hi, tre3tre.  Welcome to LandzDown Forum.

With the information provided, there is no way of knowing whether your computer has a hardware problem or if it is malware.  In the event the problem is malware, below are options for boot scans.  You will need access to a working computer to create the bootable media.  In the event it is malware and one or more of the below options remove the malware, please provide a copy of the logs in the Log Posting Instructions topic so that we can remove any additional malware.

1.  Instructions are available here for running Windows Defender Offline.  You will need a writable CD or DVD or a USB stick so you can "write" (save) Windows Defender Offline to it and boot your computer from that media to scan.

2.  Kaspersky Rescue Disk:  Download and instructions are available here:  Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10.

3.  Emsisoft Anti-Malware:  Download and save the Emsisoft Anti-Malware setup program to your desktop from here:  http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/antimalware/download/

Note:  This is a large file so please be patient.  After the download has been completed, please do the following:
  • Double-click on the EmsisoftAntiMalwareSetup.exe icon to start the program. If Windows Smart Screen issues an alert, please allow it to run anyway.
  • If there is an alert about safe mode, please click on the Yes button to continue.  Select the language you wish to use and press the OK button.
  • On the "Licensing" screen, select the "Freeware mode" link located below the "I have a license" box.
  • Make any selections you wish on the screen about Emsisoft's Anti-Malware network and click Next.
  • Be patient while the definitions are updated.
  • Click on the Clean computer now button.
  • At the display a screen asking what type of scan you would like to perform, select the Deep Scan option and then click on the Scan button.
  • Please be patient while Emsisoft Anti-Malware scans your computer as this will take some time.
  • When the scan has finished, click on the Quarantine Selected Objects button.
  • Restart your computer into the normal Windows mode.
In the event a boot scan is not successful and you have files that are not backed up, I suggest the Linux LiveCD called Trinity Rescue Kit which can be used to retrieve files from dead/dying/infected computers, and to also do some virus scanning as well as removing passwords, etc.  You can get it from here:  Trinity Rescue Kit

If the boot scans do not find any malware, you may want to try a disk check.  (Instructions at Disk Check Outside Windows (Windows 7 / Vista).
