"Malware" Critical system error icon
« on: October 25, 2006, 08:29:09 AM »
Everytime I start up my pc a Critical system error icon appears in the bottom right that prompts me to some Malware software buying site, I have scanned my pc with Norton, Ad-Aware, Spybot and also tried to find it in start up menu in Msconfig. I have had no luck and have no clue as to how to fix it.  I have read a different post in this forum that suggests downloading a Hijackthis program. I have done that and would be greatly appreciative of any help or advice.

hi nick

just a hint
it takes a super expert to read a hjt log, not anyone can do it, but we do have a few great folks here that can help
but you gotta give them some time most have families and work so just hang in there and you will get a good reply in a bit ok?

i am not a expert but pretty sure i see a bad guy on your system
so just wait for a TRUE expert ok?

Hi Nick, welcome. Sorry for the wait.

Could you please rename HijackThis please? Certain malware hide from it, when it's named HijackThis.exe, so renaming it solves this. So please rename it to something like NotHijackThis.exe and re-scan with it, post a new logfile from it.

Thanks.
