WinPatrol nag for sidebar.exe on every boot
« on: November 25, 2016, 01:30:28 PM »
How do I tell WinPatrol to stop notifying me about sidebar.exe on every boot. I'm on Windows 10 Pro and this is part of or used by Windows 7 Gadgets for Windows 8 and Windows 10 which I use for the Weather gadget.

Hey Rich! Long time no see. Hope all is well with you and yours and you had a great Thanksgiving!

I note this is a reported bug Corrine reported here that came from your thread. AFAIK, it has yet to be fixed. :(

However, Ruiware (the makers of WP) announced a couple weeks ago a new beta after a long period of inactivity - with "more upgrades to come." Hopefully this sidebar issue will be resolved soon.

Hi Bill.

Thanksgiving was great, had my Grandson and his girlfriend over plus one of my wife's friends.

I forgot I had reported this before or that you or Corrine had also. I believe that's one of the reasons I stopped using WP and it looks like I'll have to do so again until this is fixed.

As I mentioned, I use the Weather gadget and have 6 weather icons on my desktop for 6 different place my family lives so I want to continue to use Gadgets.

I had just recently upgraded to the latest WP and so started it automatically at boot and again had the problem.

Oh well, maybe with teh beta?

Thanks

Since you are using Windows 10 and support for gadgets was discontinued a very long time ago. have you looked at the weather apps in the Windows Store?  Two that I am aware of allow you to select multiple locations so they can easily be checked.  For example, I have MSN Weather installed and have four different locations set.  All I have to do is click the star/favorites icon to check the saved locations.
