Message that WinPatrol has stopped working, no solution found
« on: January 06, 2016, 04:59:35 PM »
Whenever I re-boot, WinPatrol notifies me of a new startup program (in this case, a new version of ClipMate). When I click on OK, I get the standard Windows message that the program has stopped working, and that Windows is searching for a solution. None is found, and it happens every time I reboot.
It's a minor annoyance, but I did not purchase WinPatrol, and don't know when or how it got on my computer. Normally I acknowledge the new program and that's the end of it, but as long as the program is not working, it will apparently run forever. I'm tempted to remove WinPatrol, but would appreciate solutions as well.

This is a bit like covering up the Check Engine light because its annoying.

WinPatrol comes in two versions, a free and "Plus" version so you may not have purchased it. It is a great program and widely recommended to monitor such things as programs that want to start with Windows. However, it is odd you don't know how WinPatrol got on your computer.

Is ClipMate something you purchased and want on your system? It sounds like ClipMate is trying to run every time Windows boot. Is that something you want?

Have you scanned for malware?

I suspect WinPatrol was unknowingly included with something I deliberately acquired. It does seem useful.

I purchased ClipMate and want and need it. It is set to run at each reboot. But I don't need to be told that it is running.

As to malware, I have Norton doing stuff all the time, plus whatever Windows might be doing.

Thanks

I can't say that is not possible but I am not aware of WP being bundled with anything, except one of its stablemates like WinPrivacy or WinAntiRansom.

I recommend you uninstall WinPatrol, reboot, then download and install the latest version of WinPatrol. This will not only ensure you have the latest version, but if there is a corrupt WinPatrol file causing your problem, this typically fixes it.
