sidebar.exe WinPatrol popup on every boot.

Every time I boot or restart I get a WinPatrol popup saying a new automatic startup program has been detected.
Windows Desktop Gadgets

Not true as I've been using Windows 7 Gadgets for Windows 10 since the 1st insider preview last October. This started a few weeks ago I think.

Hey Rich! First, welcome to LandzDown!

Interesting that you brought this up for I just (like 10 minutes ago) encountered the same thing and instructed WinPatrol to reject the setting. That seems to be a mistake because now I cannot use any gadgets (I really only used the Pandora gadget). I was going to work my way through my new emails then reboot when I came across the notification for your new thread.

Do your gadgets still work?

Hi Bill, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

I accept the change when the WP popup happens so my gadgets still work.

The only one I use is the WeatherCenter. I have 6 instances of it running for the various locations in the US where my family live so I can see the weather and temp where there are. Then when it's real bad I call them and say "Hey, it's 82 here in Florida today" :) :)

Wonder what changed that caused this to start happening?

Well, you are having better luck than me. Now my Gadgets won't even load correctly. Are you using http://8gadgetpack.net/?

And I did have a Merry Christmas! I hope yours was too. Happy New Year!

When I woke, it was 8°F out, but it has warmed up to 33° which is a bit surprising with the 6 inches of snow still on the ground.

Yes, that is the gadget pack I'm using. Started using it when Win 8 first came out and still using it with the latest Win 10.

77F here, heading for 82-84. Bright sunshine, gorgeous day here on the Space Coast.

Yeah, that's what I am using. Not sure why I have started having problems. Has nothing to do with WinPatrol, however.

I had to stop using gadgets. :( As I noted, I only used it for Pandora but nothing I did would make it work correctly. I suspect it was a W10 Windows Update that ensured gadgets were no longer supported in Windows. :(

You're not alone.  Only seeing it on Win10 though.  Another program I use is also having similar problems - indicating that many new startup items have been found, asking me to approve.  Only see it after reboots though.

Is there any way to tell WinPatrol to always allow this specific executable? It's getting annoying to have this every tine I boot.

Not sure Rich. I don't see how to select a single program. Under Options, is "Suppress Continuous Alerts based on first response" checked?

What happens if you move loading your gadget into delayed start? The easy way to do this is to right-click on it under Startup Programs, then select Move to Delayed Start list.

BTW, I never could get my Pandora gadget to work properly. As that was the only gadget I was still using, I abandoned gadgets altogether. I have since discovered Pandorian, a really nice desktop client for Pandora. Highly recommended for all Pandora and music lovers.

I just moved Show gadgets on startup sidebar.exe to delayed, will see what happens.

Old thread but according to th4e latest news letter this should be fixed in the

WinPatrol WAR stops annoying you by forcing you to rerun programs it has blocked but you've allowed. Now, WAR allows the currently running program to continue based on your response and adds it to your allowed list so it will be automatically allowed next time as well.

Downloading it now. Hope it really does fix this problem.

Edit: Rats, this is for WinPatrol WAR, not WinPatrol.
