Unknown publisher warning
« on: June 05, 2015, 01:46:26 PM »
Hi

I still get the (Windows 7 Home Premium) UAC prompt "Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to your computer" every time I open WinPatrol. I downloaded it from the Ruiware website.

I don't get that for any of my other programs.

Can anyone explain why?

I suspect that is normal behavior.
I have a paid version running near my clock but when i go into programs and click on WinPatrol Explorer, I get a warning.

Hi,

Thank you for posting this. All of our executable files are signed by a valid code signing certificate, so we should not be "unknown".
At what level do you have your UAC set to receive this warning?

Thank,
Bret.

Sorry for the fuzziness, I just snapped this with my tablet because you can't use the snipping tool.
I click WinPatrol Explorer and this is what appears. (Sorry the jpgs are reversed; the first one didn't attach for some reason so after posting and seeing it missing, I attached it).

Since the time has passed for me to add to my post above, here is more information. This pertains to the latest version:
I've now installed the new version on two computers. It asks to start I say yes but when I hover over the icon near the clock, Scotty disappears.

I fired up Task manager and I don't see WinPatrol in the processes for all users. I don't think it is running.

Again, the time for me to modify is gone. <sigh>
I cold booted one of the computers and Scotty is on Patrol. (64 bit Win Home Premium)
I'll reboot the other (32 bit Win Home Prem).
If you don't see me post again, you can assume that Scotty is on patrol.

Both these computers shoot up the Unknown Publisher.
