Title: WinPatrol plus and Tabtip.exe
Post by: joe935 on November 08, 2017, 12:13:18 PM
The plus information for Tabtip.exe gives the following:
Technical information on Tablet PCs can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/deploy/tpcdploy.asp.
However the link results in a page not found.
I was having the problem where Winpatrol would request that tabtip.exe be allowed or not and even after allowing it would show up on the next boot.
I have the latest win 10 version 1709 build 16299.19 installed

Hi, joe935.

It appears that page has been removed since it relates to Windows XP Pro.  As to tabtip.exe, it is necessary to launch the onscreen keyboard.  Otherwise, if you always use an external keyboard with the tablet it can be disabled.

Is it that WinPatrol is asking you each time you restart the tablet if you want to allow tabtip.exe even though you've already said to allow?

In that case, unless your PC has a touch screen (which would also use tabtip.exe), after the next restart allow WinPatrol to block it. If you find you do need it, you can always add it back to startup.  (Instructions at WinPatrol Features: Startup Programs (http://www.winpatrol.com/support/startup.html))
