Zone Alarm
« on: May 24, 2006, 07:51:00 PM »
Hi.... I've put nothing here for ages and now I'm going for 2 posts in separate forums on the same day - hope that's not abusing your hospitality!

I run Zone Alarm Pro 5 and am having trouble with the amount of times it seems to block what I would consider "innocuous" stuff while I'm on the net. I know it'll probably be because I haven't set it up right, but I recently re-installed it and left all the default settings alone in an attempt to solve the problem but it didn't work. The privacy section is what I think is causing me the trouble, and I've got the cookie control on medium and the ad-blocking on medium also. Mobile code control is set to "off", should that matter. I keep getting privacy advisor warning when I'm trying to load pages such as these forums etc, and could really do without it as it seems to slow it down loads.

Any advice gratefully appreciated, as ever!

Cheers, Moose

Hi again.... thank you for that tutorial. I'm sorry if I'm being dense  :?, and it DID explain a lot I didn't realise, but I couldn't see anywhere in it about the privacy settings and how I should alter them (if at all) to avoid the pages not loading fully etc etc..... or is getting loads of alerts and having some half-blank pages better than the alternative???  :sinking:

If I'm better off putting up with the alerts etc then that's what I'll do, but if there's any way I could set it up so I get fewer alerts and full images on the pages I'm trying to view then that would be great.

Cheers as always, Moose

the_moose,
Privacy Advisor will alert you when Zone Alarm blocks cookies or mobile code and enables you to allow those elements for a particular page.you can however turn off the Adviser select the check box labeled Turn Off Privacy Advisor.
