Active X 9
« on: January 14, 2009, 03:53:43 PM »
ok...

1.  anyone have an overview of activex 9
i've googled forever, and can't come up with an overview article...
yeah, i know it runs out of ie...  that there are hundreds of activex controls on your pc...  and that w/o knowing the friendly name or the clsid {  } you're outa luck removing any particular control... that everyone wants to load one or more on your internet exploded..
but again, an overview of activex itself, anyone?

2. if activex 9 is drain bamaged, how can it be uninstalled / reinstalled?
the only thing i've seen so far is "run windows update"... yeah, nice, but what if you're fully updated already?
again, my friend google and his brother yahoo seem to have nothing on this, even when searching using site:support.microsoft.com

ideas?

ps
this, because i'm trying to respond to another active x question in this section... :D

active x comes with xp, this version comes with xp s/p 2.
here's the redstributable (stand alone install) version:

DirectX is very different from ActiveX - I saw your thread and have been searching for this elusive ActiveX 9 (I've never heard of version numbers on ActiveX itself) - glad you were able to get what you're after.
