F.B. Purity app disabled windows start functions
« on: October 28, 2018, 11:40:08 AM »
I thought I'd give the F.B. Purity app a try to see if it would help facebook load faster.

Bad idea.

Once I installed the app and enabled it, I could not load the FB page in Edge browser.  Also, I could no longer open the Windows start panel.  Although right-click opened the menu, none of the links were operational, so I could not get to settings or anywhere else to uninstall the app.

After a restart, I was able to use the start menu again and uninstall the app.

I've since found that I may have been able to uninstall the app using the File > New task function in Task Manager, which still was operational as I used it to kill Edge, which was still running after I closed the window.

However, I just wanted to ask if this is something that has happened to others, is it an expected app malfunction, or am I "special" ?  :)

You must be "special".  :)  I've had the FBP app on Edge since it was first approved for adding to the Microsoft Store and haven't had any issues with it -- although I am normally using Pale Moon when on Facebook which uses Greasmonkey for FBP install.  Checking, I see that the Windows 10 FBP app updated successfully to version 26.

Special it is!  :D

I guess I need to put GreaseMonkey on my PaleMoon application.  There are a few other scripts I'd like to run anyway.   Its amazing how much I used FF extensions like "double click to open link in new tab".

All I have to do to open a link in a new tab is to click the link. The setting in Preferences > Tabs is set to open in a new tab.  Pale Moon also has a version of Tab Mix Plus which includes numerous useful options.

I mispoke.... the extension opened URLs that were not a link in a new tab.  But thanks, I'll check my PM settings.
