i found something interesting.  Everytime my computer freezes, in the Application log i see several things, ill list them in ht eorder they are in the log:

The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal processing.  HRESULT was 8007043C from line 44 of d:\nt\com\com1x\src\events\tier1\eventsystemobj.cpp.  Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services to report this error.

Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error calling routine CoCreateInstance.  hr = 0x80040206.

Content index on c:\system volume information\catalog.wci is corrupt. Please shutdown and restart the Indexing Service (cisvc).

Cleaning up corrupt content index metadata on c:\system volume information\catalog.wci. Index will  be automatically restored by refiltering all documents.

thats everything.... anything stand out in those? lol, because i really dont understand then that well, they all were labeled as errors though.

Geowil :)

I´m not sure if this would help, but you could try to flush your restore folder and create a new one.
If you are unsur how to do it, please follow those instructions:

havent had any for a while, im think that ZA is killing them now (switched up to Pro addition so i could allow the ports for my game server while being able to have the firewall settings on high).

none of those could be causing my comp to freeze could they?

Geowil  :)

Those attacks listed by your firewall are most likely the "general" alerts that appear in all systems.
There are always hackers sending pings randomly, trying to find open ports. If no firewall is installed, the computer responds . That´s the way computer are designed. Then a hacker will know where a vulnerable computer is available.
Also your ISP is sending pings to locate your computer. This is for maintaining reasons. To create statistics ,to see if the network is ok.

Regarding the system error notifications, I want you to try this:
Click (Windowskey+R) and type services.msc>OK. In the right pane of the window that opens ,scroll down until you find COM+ Event System. Check to see that it´s not set to "disabled". If it is, doubleclick upon it and under "Startup type" set it to "Automatic" or "Manual" .
Then do the same with :
COM+ System Application
and System Event Notification  , which should be set to "Automatic".

If this doesn´t help, I´m afraid there is a problem with 1.) your hardware or 2.) your Windows.  :(

I´ve been reading a lot about this trying to find a solution, but the variety of possible faults are many. Could be the video card, motherboard , hard-drive or a faulty installed Windows/SP2.  :smash:

Since your system is working in safe mode, I would start with replacing the video card. If you have another available , try to replace it and see if it helps. If it doesn´t, you are up to going through the system piece by piece trying to locate the error.
A reinstallation of Windows is the last resort,I believe. I think, like you do, that it´s hardware related and in that case a reinstallation of Windows wouldn´t help.

sorry for posting in this after so long!

but i feel that I have to close it out.

I sent my computer back in to the manufacturers, they sent me an email back a few weeks later saying that my video card chip was damaged and the heatsync on the processor was not working efficiently thus causing the cpu to overheat.

they replaced those and sent it back and its been working ever since xD.

so in the end it was hardware related.

thanks for the help anyway.
