No, it wouldn't.  When you get the page back saying the password isn't right, you're on a different page, and the browser will track that page separately from the first one, meaning it stores the password on that first page, but not necessarily the second one.

It's been a long time since I've stored passwords in a browser, so I might not have this right, but if memory serves, when you go to a page and have the browser fill in the password for you, you can then change the password by retyping it, and the browser will come up and ask if you want to store that new one.  Again, been a long time since I've used this feature, and it can depend on what browser you're using, but, it's what I'm thinking.

Worst case, you could try clearing the password out and storing it again.

And please, don't call me Shirley.  ;)

Problem not resolved - through Search and CCleaner I got rid of the desktop icon and the cookie.  Went to Forum through internet and typed Genglish - the password box immediately filled but again the wrong password.  Deleted it and entered correct password - OK but no message about saving new password.

No you haven't solved any problems -- just ignored the question asked.  If you are not going to wait for answers to your questions or follow the advice provided why do you ask in the first place?  You aren't learning anything that way and will not know how to solve the problem at another site.
