Let's check the service is running ...

Start > type Services and click on the Services app that appears.  In the Services window, scroll down to find the WLAN AutoConfig service.



Is the status 'running' and the startup 'automatic'?

If not, right click and select Properties.  Under General, select Automatic as startup type, and then click Start.  Hit Apply then OK.




If no joy, let's check the driver ...

Start > Menu, type Device Manager and click on the Device Manager/Control Panel that shows up.  Go down to Network Adapters, and expand to reveal the list.  Locate your Wireless card, right-click and open up Properties.  Switch to the Driver tab and note your driver details in case you have to see if there is an update on the manufacturer website.  Go back to the Wireless Card, right click and select ‘Update driver’.

all that is in there is a adapter called
REALTEK PCIe FE Family Controller

Under services there is the WLAN auto config and its set and running so where is the driver and thank W.

The answer to the driver will depend on what is installed, as per the earlier instructions

I am not an expert and there are no device details to work with other than HP Pavillion.  But if you are confident with messing with your hardware give this a try.

Make sure you de-static or "ground" yourself before touching any of your computer insides every time you do something.

If your pavillion is a desktop, after you turn it off and unplug it, try identifying your wireless card if that is what you have.  If you find such a card, carefully remove it.  Then reboot your computer as usual.

After rebooting and stabilizing, shut down your computer and unplug it again.  Reinstall your wireless card, and reboot your computer.

The hope here is that somehow just reinstalling and re-seating the card in this manner will trick Windows 10 into recognizing it.

Let us know.

It would also be helpful to everyone if you supplied your computer make and model number, and also the make and model number of any wireless card, if that is what you have.

This laptop doesn't happen to have a hardware on/off switch for the WiFi card, does it?
