Screen flickering on PC after Creators Update
« on: April 06, 2017, 07:01:01 PM »
I've had this screen flickering problem before, especially when watching videos online. The Creators Update changes a particular Nvidia card setting.

For Nvidia:
If you have screen flickering on your TV (if you use a TV... I use HDMI hookup), go to Nvidia Control Panel, Adjust Desktop Color Settings, go to 'Content type reported to the display', and select anything but 'Auto-select'. I prefer Desktop Programs for a good contrast.

As far as any other video graphics like Intel or AMD, I have no idea of how to fix it if you have flickering, but do check your graphics control panel settings.

I haven't run into that with nVidia on my desktop with Creators Update.  We'll see what happens when I update the laptop.  (Both are 2008 era devices.)

Other people have had this issue, Google shows many queries about it. I posted the fix at a youtube video about the fix, a better fix than what was currently being offered, which was disabling Hardware Acceleration in the browser, but that then made high quality videos play quite sluggishly.
