Skype on Ipad
« on: December 28, 2017, 03:45:22 PM »
I have used Skype on an Ipad with Ios 9.3.5. For some reason I lost connection. Contacting Skype Support they had me delete it. Then went to the App's Store and it did not have a GET selection. Somehow I also got the information App's no longer had "SKYPE ON IPAD"

Any ideas on what is wrong?  Any solutions.  We don't use Skype very often. WE DO USE IT TO SEE OUR GRANDDAUGHTER.

Ipad with Ios 9.3.5.

I'm guessing you have an old iPad given that you are stuck on 9.3.5 (which came out 25 August 2016).  Can you confirm the model you have please?

Model: MC705LL/A which I believe is and IPAD 3 which I got with my Cadillac.
The screen you had me look at is one I viewed in my attempt to find another way to download. I found no way to download Skype from that page or any page on the Internet through my P.C.

That page says this:
Quote
This app is only available on the App Store for iOS devices.
So why are you trying to download to a PC when it says it has to be an iOS device?
If you look at it on a PC there is no download link, at least looking at it on my Win 7 desktop computer.

MC705LL/A is indeed an iPad 3rd Gen model A1416 (Wi-Fi Only), introduced 7 March 2012 and discontinued 23 October 2012.  iOS 9.3.5 is the last update to the operation system for that generation.

The screen you had me look at is one I viewed in my attempt to find another way to download. I found no way to download Skype from that page or any page on the Internet through my P.C.

I wanted you to go to that website I linked to see if version 6.35.1 was the one you had installed, or if you needed to update your app.  Then I realized you had uninstalled it and couldn't answer my question.  Unfortunately there is a forum glitch at the moment that won't let me edit my posts, so I couldn't further explain what I was attempting to ascertain.   :(

As plodr indicated, you'll have to use the App Store on your iPad to search for the Skype for iPad app.  There should be a button to download and install it.  Since you have uninstalled it, the button may not say 'Get', it might instead be a cloud icon, indicating you had previously installed and deleted.  If you press on that icon, it should re-download and install.

I consolidated my Skype account with Microsoft. This morning I tried the download again. The cloud worked and I have it on my IPAD.  After 33 years in Computers, they still are flaky because of software designs.
Thanks and have a great new year.

Glad you have things sorted out.  It won't be long before your granddaughter will be able to troubleshoot things for you   ;)
