Synchronize a folder in computer with One Drive
« on: August 24, 2017, 04:07:50 PM »
Hello, LzD Friends!

I would like to ask something, just to be sure about what I'm doing.

Let's say I want to use a folder in my computer. Is there a way all the changes I make there, to take place in my One Drive folder at the same time? I found the opposite (working with a file in One Drive).

Do you have that folder set to not sync?  See Choose which OneDrive folders to sync to your computer - OneDrive

I have already done this. But I think that I want something else. If for example I decide to add a file in that folder in the computer, I want this file to be created in the folder in One Drive. I can't do this...

Let's try this:  Fix OneDrive sync problems - Office Support

A question before try the above: Should I be connected with Microsoft account to manage to do what I want? I use a local account.

Yes if OneDrive is set up on your Microsoft account.

Hi, Corrine.

I'm not sure I made you understand what I really want, and if it's possible to be done.

I have a folder A on my desktop. I have the same folder in my One Drive folder.

Every day, I make updates in the folder A on my desktop.

Is there a way for these changes to take place in the One Drive folder A as well, the same time?

I know that when I use the folder A via One Drive, every change is taking place in every device I have connected with One Drive. But I don't want to use the folder in One Drive. I want to use folder A on my desktop.

Right-click the OneDrive icon (cloud) in the task bar > Select "Settings" > In the Account tab, click "Choose folders".  If "folder A" is not checked, check the box.  You can also check the option to "Sync all files and folders in OneDrive".

Nothing. I'm adding files in folder A on desktop, but nothing changes in folder A in One Drive folder.

I don't know what to tell you, Panos.  This morning, I moved a folder on my PC, checked OneDrive but it hadn't been changed there yet.  Just now, I right-clicked the OneDrive icon in the taskbar, went to OneDrive online and saw that the change had been made.  Unless someone else has suggestions, I can check to see if there is a Office MVP who has a suggestion.

Is your local account added to OneDrive?  See if this works:  Log on to your PC with your Microsoft Account > Right-click the OneDrive icon in the task bar > Click Settings.  Is your local account listed there?  If not, in the Account tab, click "Add an account".  Follow the prompts to add your local account to OneDrive.

Well, I uninstalled and reinstalled One Drive application from the Windows 10 Store, and now there is no icon in the task bar, even when the application is opened.

PS. Corrine, I'm here with a friend and her computer. We will post her logs in a while. So, don't spend your time for my problem, please. It can wait.

After reinstalling the OneDrive app, you should go through the Fix OneDrive sync problems - Office Support again.
