weird problem with MSE
« on: January 29, 2014, 09:54:40 PM »
I accidentally changed my computer clock for a  short time today to the 28th of  February.

During that time, (and not realizing I had changed the clock) I got a prompt to run an MSE scan so I did, and it downloaded updated definitions.

So I eventually discovered the computer clock error and corrected it to the right time.

Now, MSE is showing my definitions as last updated in February.  Updating again doesn't reset that. And doesn't seem to add a new update.  So now I have a constant orange icon telling me that I might be unprotected.  I can ignore it until after February 28, of course. But I'd rather find a way to reset things to normal.  Can that date be removed somehow?

Problem solved.

I always forget that rebooting Windows fixes all kinds of things, so I gave that a try.

After a restart, and once again downloading new definitions the dates have straightened themselves out in the MSE control panel.

Nice job.  You solved your problem before I even had a chance to read what it was.
