« on: September 02, 2015, 06:30:40 PM »
What are DCM files and how do I open them? Do I need a special program?
Thanks for any help.

DCM is typically something in the Dicom Medicine Image file format.  They can also be from the Western Digital Anywhere Backup/Memeo AutoBackup program.

DCM files (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) are a standard file format for the creation, distribution and viewing of various body scans/medical images (MRI, PET, CT, ultrasound, et al). It was created by the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA).

GIMP, Adobe Photoshop, and IrfanView should open DCM images, or anything else that will handle raster files.

GIMP is a pretty solid free program if you're not familiar with it.
