I just read about PrivaZer today.
http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/privazer.html

Has anyone tried this? If so, I'm curious about feedback.

First I've heard about it.  Found this review:  Security and this comparison to CCleaner: CCleaner vs PrivaZer – Which is more effective? | Daves Computer Tips

I always have mixed feelings about cleaner reviews. If the objective is to see how much disk space can be recovered, or which cleans more files, CCleaner rarely ever wins. But IMO, one of CCleaner's better selling points has always been that it is NOT overly aggressive. Overly aggressive cleaners have always scared me - and with good reason. They've a history of breaking computers. I personally have never had CCleaner break a computer.

I wonder if freeing up 278MB more than CCleaner is really a game changer when 256GB drives are considered small these days?

It would be nice to see a current review. I note that one is from 2013. It seems to me if people liked PrivaZer better, it would be much more popular and well-known by now. I don't remember hearing about it before either.

CCleaner claims to have been downloaded over 2 billion times, PrivaZer claims 150,000 "PC" (not PCs  ::) ) cleaned every month. I don't know who's right or what either claim really means but clearly CCleaner is much more popular and there's usually a good reason for that - namely that it works.

I wish I could find a comparison of the free version of PrivaZer vs PrivaZer "Donors version".

I also wish Dave's review compared both to Windows' own, Disk Cleanup so we had some baseline.

Me? I'm sticking with CCleaner.

Thanks Corrine. I didn't realize this program had been around for so many years.

I have little experience with cleaners, yet I am in complete agreement with Digerati. I've used CCleaner for years, and never a problem. I sometimes follow up with a little file cleaning via my Norton AV program, mostly due to personal paranoia (haha). Like with CCleaner, it doesn't appear to hurt anything. Oh well, what do I know? Not much! :)

I have used Privazer for years and had  no real problem with it, along with Ccleaner. But i use Privazer once a month or so. I use Ccleaner every time I use my computer. Another good cleaner that is relatively safe is ATF cleaner version 3.0.0.1.

3.0.0.2 might work for you, if you use Windows 7 like I do.

ATF used to be a great program I used to use and recommend frequently. But today the problem with ATF, and why I never recommend it any more, is because of what it says, in bold, on that page.

This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
Now I realize many have used it successfully on newer versions of Windows, but I will not recommend it to my clients, friends or family because it has not been updated in many years.

That's overkill for me. I might run CCleaner once or twice a year.
I don't store files on the computer. When I'm done with something I erase it. I also use Revo Uninstaller to uninstall programs. So i tend to cleanup as I go.

I would stick to Ccleaner. All them free cleanup softwares just make the pc slower instead of cleaning up. Also a little bird whispered to me ears this morning, that Microsoft is going to block for all free software named with the word "Optimizer" in their next version of Windows 10.

Regarding ATF Cleaner, I had stopped using it when Atribune discontinued development.  However. after reading Pete's post and pointed Atribune to it on Facebook merely commenting, "Some favorite tools just keep on long after the developer has moved on."  He replied saying that many people have used it, even on Windows 10.  So, I created a restore point, downloaded and ran ATF Cleaner.  No issues.

I agree this is true. But it is what a tool does that is the deciding factor for me - at least when it comes to recommending it to others.

In another forum, I have read about this CCleaner's open source alternative: https://www.bleachbit.org/

I don't use cleaners to have opinion, but it seems that Bleachbit gets many positive comments.

PCWorld, which in general likes the problem, noted some downfalls in its review that would suggest BleachBit is geared more towards the advanced user. It looks to me like its biggest plus is it is free for business use too.

I didn't imagine that this cleaner would make me laugh. I will remember it.  :)

P.S. Is this emoticon from another forum too? -->
