Karenware Power Tool news
« on: December 10, 2018, 11:32:00 AM »
For those that knew the late Karen Kenworthy and used her small, but very useful programs, her programs are slowly being updated thanks to Joe Winett.
One of the latest is WhoIS; this program finds out who owns a domain name and when the registration expires.
I used to use that program  a lot - years ago.

Here is the new version

Thanks for this. I did not realize someone else had picked up the ball. Years ago, I used to regularly use her LAN Monitor and several other tools, like Time Sync. I see LAN Monitor has not been updated since 2009, and Time Sync is not really needed any more since Windows does it automatically once a week by default. But as seen here, other tools have updated. :)

Karen's was the best.  I'm still using Replicator on Windows 7, but discovered problems with it under Windows 10.  Here's hoping there's an update for that.

Specifically, I found the replication to be incomplete - missing files after completion of the operation.  It is not clear that problems, with "Windows 10 uses a modern manifest system for which Replicator hasn't yet been specifically prepared", have been addressed.

Did you use the new version (updated Dec. 2018) of Replicator on Win 10?

No; I had not used the latest version.  My attempt was almost a year ago.  I'll be testing the new version to see if it will work out.

At first blush, the installation (using default parameters) of v3.7.1 did not create a start menu folder or a desktop shortcut icon.

I'll go back to download v3.7.2 to see how that works.

Hah, Joe must have updated it after I posted!
I guess he got reports of the Dec. version and needed to tweak things.

I don't run Win 10 so I can't test it on that platform.
