Dev channel update to 86.0.622.3 is live
Added features:
  • Added the ability to delete a downloaded file from the file’s entry’s … menu on the Downloads shelf.
  • Added an option to show or hide the Favorites bar from the Favorites management page.
  • Added more alerts when Password Monitor detects a compromised password.
  • Added a management policy for Internet Explorer Integration Testing Allowed. Note that this policy only applies if IE mode is also enabled, and that updates to administrative templates and documentation will come at a later date.
  • Added a management policy to Enable Edge Spotlight Experiences and Recommendations. Note that updates to administrative templates and documentation will come at a later date.
  • Enabled support for Default Sensors Setting, Sensors Allowed For Urls, and Sensors Blocked For Urls management policies from Chromium.
  • Enabled a management policy for Insecure Form Warnings Enabled from Chromium.

Dev channel update to 87.0.634.0 is live

This update brings Edge 87 to the beta version.

Added features:
  • Added the ability to Open and Save As for downloaded items on the Downloads shelf before they begin downloading.
  • Added the ability to view a PDF’s table of contents and use it to navigate to locations within it.
  • Added a Website Permission Setting for sites that ask to open an application after clicking on a link.
  • Changed ClickOnce support to be enabled by default.
  • Enabled support for a Printing Paper Size Default management policy from Chromium.
  • Enabled support for management policies for Default File System Read Guard Setting, Default File System Write Guard Setting, File System Read Ask For Urls, File System Read Blocked For Urls, File System Write Ask For Urls, and File System Write Blocked For Urls from Chromium.

Due to the Labor Day Holiday in the U.S., it is a small update with one added feature:  the ability to swipe downward on touchscreens to activate Shy UI.  See the blog post for fixes and known issues.

Dev channel update to 87.0.644.4 is live

A new feature being rolled out gradually with this update is Sleeping Tabs, nicely explained at Bleeping Computer at Microsoft Edge's new feature will reduce memory and CPU usage.

Added features:
  • Added dark theme support to sidebar Search.
  • Rolled out support more broadly for new Kiosk Mode features like idle timeout and automatic download deletion via management policy.

  •     Changed the Favorites menu to now be a pinnable pane that lists all favorites in a single vertical list instead of multiple flyout menus.
  •     Added a price comparison feature to Collections.
  •     Added data recovery to PDFs so that edits or annotations aren’t lost in the event of a crash.
  •     Improved support for AV1 encoded videos.  Note that the Windows extension is still required to be installed from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/av1-video-extension/9mvzqvxjbq9v.
  •     Added a keyboard shortcut to open and close Collections.
  •     Added a button to the Profile flyout to turn on Sync if it’s not already turned on.

  •     Added extra error information to tabs when they crash due to sandbox conflict.

I didn't notice at first because I usually use Firefox, but Browser Guard is available for EDGE...

When I updated MBAM, I was offered Browser Guard, I already have it on Firefox, but I did not uncheck it.

The next time I opened "Edge", I was prompted to install Malwarebytes Browser Guard. As far as I can tell installation was successful.

Added Features:

  • Added the ability for Edge to proactively find and show coupons while shopping.  Note that this feature is not available for work and school accounts.
  • Rolled out support for automatic deduplication of favorites more broadly.  Now, deduplication will occur every time favorites are synced to the device.
  • Added the ability to take a screenshot of the entire webpage using Web Capture.
  • Added settings to the Pinning Wizard to generate more default suggestions.
  • Added support in the IE mode sitelist to be able to specify schemes (http/https) alongside the host and path.
  • Added new management policies to configure whether or not Sleeping Tabs are Enabled, to configure the Timeout until they go to sleep, and to configure the list of URLs that are Blocked from going to sleep.   Note that updates to administrative templates or documentation may not be available yet.
  • Enabled support for the management policy to Block External Extensions from Chromium.
  • Updated icons across Edge to be more consistent with the Fluent design scheme.

  • Added the ability for Edge to generate new passwords.
  • Added the ability to copy and edit passwords stored in the browser.

  • Finished rolling out the search Sidebar.
  • Enabled the creation of text notes in PDFs on non-Windows platforms.

  • Improved the layout of the Cookies and Site Permissions Settings.
