Title: Windows 10 Optional Out-of-Band Update For PDF Opening Issue
Post by: Corrine on June 30, 2021, 01:03:11 PM
Microsoft released KB5004760 (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/june-29-2021-kb5004760-os-builds-19041-1082-19042-1082-and-19043-1082-out-of-band-9508f7a2-0713-432f-b06c-1ae6d802a2f7), an optional out-of-band non-security update for Windows 10 Versions 21H1, 20H2, and 2004.

As described in the KB Article:

Quote
  • Updates an issue that might prevent you from opening PDFs using Internet Explorer 11 or apps that use the 64-bit version of the WebBrowser control. Additionally, a PDF might render as just a gray background when using the Adobe Acrobat plug-in.
The purpose of the update is to fix the issue causing blue screens (BSOD) when printing to network printers with Type 3 printer drivers.  The issue showed up after installing the March 2021 cumulative updates.

Because the update is optional, it is not available via Windows update.  However, if you have been affected by this issue, the update can be downloaded manually from the Microsoft Update Catalog (https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB5004760).
