Internet Archive Hacked

Internet Archive's "The Wayback Machine" has suffered a data breach after a threat actor compromised the website and stole a user authentication database containing 31 million unique records.

News of the breach began circulating Wednesday afternoon after visitors to archive.org began seeing a JavaScript alert created by the hacker, stating that the Internet Archive was breached.

That is sad. I go to the site from time to time to see websites from the past.

Not only is it sad but it almost seems 'mindless!'  What would be the point of hacking the archive?  As some of the posts at Bleeping Computer implied, its essentially like dropping nuclear bombs on the public library.

Now it seems that the archive is presently under a DDoS attack too.

Sigh!!!
