I have windows 10 & always used googlenews.com but now they have changed the page & I can't get the old one back so I would like to know what is a good site for the home page for news.
Thanks I know this is a simple question but I don't know much & you have always helped me.
Thanks in advance

Hi, Mary.

One option is to use your local newspaper as a "home page news site".  Of course, there are many other options.  Personally, I use https://www.bing.com/ for two reasons.  I've never been fond of Google plus I use Microsoft Rewards, accessible from that page.

You could also just use the https://www.bing.com/news link which has top stories from other news sites as well as "trending news" below that where you can scroll through various headlines.

Other options include https://news.yahoo.com/, the Associated Press site at https://apnews.com/ and most likely your favorite broadcasting network.

I suspect other members have favorites as well.

Mary,

When I was finally forced to give up my local print newspaper by price increases beyond my capability to pay, I had to come up with a news strategy.  So I have set up a bookmarks folder that I "open all links" to at least once a day.  That folder has:

https://news.google.com/ ;
https://www.reuters.com/ ;
https://www.bing.com/news ;
https://news.yahoo.com/ ;
my local newspaper's home page ;
four of my local television stations' home pages ;
and several other specialty new sources that I use.

So I right click on this folder and then click "open all" (or something similar), and each page loads in a different tab.  From there I can quickly glance at the contents of each to see what I might be interested in or need to know.

For local news the television station home pages seem to cover matters better than the local newspaper's home page.

For national and international news I like the setup and layout of " https://news.google.com/ " and " https://www.reuters.com/ " more than I do Bing and Yahoo, but that is just a personal preference.  Plus sometimes Yahoo gets to be a little more sensationalized than I care for.

But I would say that for local news stick with something local and for national and international news go with one of the larger sites like Google, Reuters (especially for international news), Bing, Yahoo, etc.

I use https://www.protopage.com/ as my home page.
I registered and selected my news sources and even have comics.
I chose to have 7 headlines from each of my sources so I can quickly see stories and select any I want to look at in detail.

Thanks for the help. For now I went with Bing. Can't do a local newspaper because we live in such a rural area there is no local paper. Not much news here but that is why we love it so much.

I always know whatever dumb question I ask everyone on here is willing to help me. All of you are so great.

Thanks
Mary

Glad we were able to help. Since you're using Bing, it is easier to use Microsoft Rewards, although you can still use Microsoft Rewards if you use a different news site.  As described at the link above, by earning Rewards points, you can redeem the points for gift cards, make charitable donations, etc.
