I'm collecting ... beautiful, perhaps inspiring, songs. If you have something,

e.g.

What a wonderful world
When you believe

I would like to avoid love songs, but don't take it as a rule. :)

In Your Time - Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band/1995

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nX76Xz86MTo

Bob Seger wrote this song for his son Cole, and it was released first time on their album "Greatest Hits" in 1994 and as a single(CD) in 1995 from the label Capitol Records.

Many singers have recorded this song over the years and one of my favorites has been mentioned here before -- mainly in relation to its connection to soccer/football and Liverpool.  Although each version has merits, I thing this is one of the best, "You'll Never Walk Alone" by Roy Hamilton, 1954.  https://youtu.be/r0KzSEoduz4

QuoteWhen you walk through a storm
Keep your chin up high
And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of a storm is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark

Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Tho' your dreams
Be tossed and blown
Walk on
Walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of a storm is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark

Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Tho' your dreams
Be tossed and blown
Walk on
Walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

Thank you, plodr and Frands. I will search for the lyrics.

Corrine, thanks for that. It is the first time I gave attention to the lyrics of this song as a whole. Very beautiful.

"Tears in Heaven" is a ballad written by Eric Clapton and Will Jennings about the pain Clapton felt following the death of his four-year-old son, Conor, who fell from a window of the 53rd-floor New York apartment of his mother's friend, on March 20, 1991.

Here you go Dr M
Alphaville lyrics:
Let's dance in style, let's dance for a while,
Heaven can wait we're only watching the skies.
Hoping for the best, but expecting the worst,
Are you gonna drop the bomb or not?

Let us die young or let us live forever
We don't have the power, but we never say never
Sitting in a sandpit, life is a short trip
The music's for the sad man.

Can you imagine when this race is won?
Turn our golden the faces into the sun,
Praising our leaders, we're getting in tune
The music's played by the, the madman.

Forever young,
I want to be forever young.
Do you really want to live forever?
Forever, and ever

Forever young,
I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever?
Forever young.

Some are like water, some are like the heat
Some are a melody and some are the beat
Sooner or later they all will be gone
Why don't they stay young?

It's so hard to get old without a cause
I don't want to perish like a fading horse
Youth's like diamonds in the sun,
And diamonds are forever

So many adventures given up today,
So many songs we forgot to play.
So many dreams swinging out of the blue
Oh let it come true.

Forever young,
I want to be forever young.
Do you really want to live forever,
Forever, and ever?

Forever young,
I want to be forever young.
Do you really want to live forever,
Forever, and ever?

Forever young
I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever,

Blake Shelton
May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
And may you stay forever young
May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
And may you stay
Forever young
Forever young
Forever young
May you stay forever young
May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
And may your song always be sung
And may you stay forever young
Forever young
Forever young
May you stay forever young
May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
May you stay forever young

Bob Seger/In Your Time

In your time
The innocence will fall away
In your time
The mission bells will toll
All along
The corridors and river beds
There'll be sign
In your time

Towering waves
Will crash across your southern cape
Massive storms
Will reach your eastern shores
Fields of green
Will tumble through your summer days
By design
In your time

Feel the wind
And set yourself the bolder course
Keep your heart
As open as a shrine
You'll sail the perfect line

And after all
The dead ends and the lessons learned
After all
The stars have turned to stone
There'll be peace
Across the great unbroken void
All benign
In your time
You'll be fine
In your time

Meant to post lyrics in my earlier post :(

Tears In Heaven (Eric Clapton)

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?
I must be strong and carry on
'Cause I know I don't belong here in heaven
Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven?
I'll find my way through night and day
'Cause I know I just can't stay here in heaven
Time can bring you down, time can bend your knees
Time can break your heart, have you begging please, begging please
Beyond the door there's peace I'm sure
And I know there'll be no more tears in heaven
Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?
I must be strong and carry on
'Cause I know I don't belong here in heaven

Perhaps not in the category as a "beautiful song", the message "Whatever will be, will be.  The future's not ours to see." is something we should all keep in mind.  Doris Day who passed away today singing "Que Sera, Sera"

Quote"Que Sera, Sera"

When I was just a little girl
I asked my mother
What will I be
Will I be pretty
Will I be rich
Here's what she said to me

Que sera, sera
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
Que sera, sera
What will be, will be

Since I am just a boy
At school I asked my
Teacher what should I try
Should I paint pictures
Should I sing songs
This was her wise reply

Que sera, sera
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
Que sera, sera
What will be, will be

When I grew up and fell in love
I asked my sweetheart
What lies ahead
Will we have rainbows
Day after day
Guess what my sweetheart said

Que sera, sera
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
Que sera, sera
What will be, will be

Now I have Children of my own
They ask their mother
What will I be
Will I be handsome
Will I be rich
I tell them tenderly

Que sera, sera
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
Que sera, sera
What will be, will be
Que Sera, Sera

A very fitting song, since it was first sung by Doris Day (1956 in the movie The man who knew too much) who died yesterday.

I Nomadi(Italy)/La Canzone del Bambino Nel Vento (Auschwitz)/1979
Nomadi (or I Nomadi, meaning "Nomads") is an Italian band formed in 1963 and still present on the music scene.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpLM3H5kCoQ

Lyrics in English:

The song of the boy in the wind (Auschwitz)
I am dead, along with hundreds
I am dead, I was a boy:
passing through the chimney
and now I'm in the wind.

In Auschwitz there was snow:
the smoke slowly rose,
on a cold winter day
and now I'm in the wind.

In Auschwitz - so many people
but (there's) only a great silence;
it's strange: I'm still unable
to smile here in the wind.

I wonder, how man could
kill one of his own,
yet we are millions
made ashes here in the wind.

And still the cannon thunders
and still it's not content,
from blood - the human beast
and still the wind brings us here.

I wonder when will it be
that man will learn
to live without killing,
and the wind will settle...

I wonder when will it be
that man will learn
to live without killing,
and the wind will settle...

And the wind will settle...
