Need help downloading pictures from camera.

  I have an old Canon Power Shot A590 that has been displaying pictures on the desktop and leting me save to Pictures.
Today i plug the camera in and instead of pictures opening on the desktop there is a popup that looks just like i clicked on Documents in the start menue.
Please tell me what i have done wrong and how to fix this.

 Just the other day i added some pictures of my kitchen faucet and everything worked fine.

 When i click on Start and then Camera there is a large black popup that says "We can't find your Camera".
If you need it here is your error code:0xA00F4244<NoCamerasAreAtached>

 Microsoft says to look in Device Manager for Camera but there is no Camera listed there.

 I attempt to download drivers from Canon and Malwarebytes blocks that.

Hi, Ron.

I tried searching for Canon Power Shot A590 and I had a terrible issue trying to navigate the site.  Were the drivers on the Canon website?  If so, it is strange that Malwarebytes blocked the download. 

One page in the search results did specify different links for Windows 10 and Windows 11.  Are you still using Windows 10?

 This is my windows 10 computer and MS says it can't be upgraded to win11.

  Just checked and i was able to load pictures monday night. The computer will not let me restore back to monday. Something happened Tuesday or Wednesday that trashed something that opens the pictures from the camera.

  I was able to downlod Canon A590 drivers to the desktop. When installed it displays a white page just like the Documents page except it has Canon Powershot A590 at the top.
It has "Removeable storage" at the top center of the page and when i double click on that two empty folders replace "Removeable Storage". The two folders are titled "DCIM" and "MISC".?

  Isn't there a name for the MS program that is supposed to open pictures from a camera?

The pictures are stored in the DCIM folder. Click on that folder to show your pictures.

  Thanks MikeW double clicking on the DCIM folder will show the pictures in the camera.

 Now i have to figure out how to send them to Pictures where all my other pictures are.

 Something happened Tuesday that messed all this up.

Try this
Right click on a picture in the DCIM folder you should have an option to save photo too  in the drop down context menu then select  save photo   navigate to your pictures folder on your computer and save it ther Hope this helps..

I found this and it it works but it is still not like Camera wizard thing that was automatic.

  Click Start > File Explorer > This PC > Right click and Import pictures.

  Ok i hooked my camera up to my old windows XP computer and the Camera Wizard took over and opened the pictures just like my windows 10 computer used to.
 
  So the camera is not the problem Tuesdays update messed something up.

There's quite a list of things for you to try here Ron. But just a thought have you tryed a different USB port to plug your camera into?

It may be worth opening a command prompt with Admin permissions and running:
sfc /scannow
to check and replace any corrupt system files.

This is what it says on the prompt page after sfc/scannow.
What should i do next?

after sfc/scannow. Did you reboot the computer and try plugging the camera into a different USB port and see if it resolved the issue with your camera pictures downloading to the computer automatically..

 Nothing changed with the camera after sfc/scannow. I am starting to think the problem might be my old camera.
